Prison Bus Route Guide: Where to Drive After Fixing the Bus
After fixing the bus you drive to the sheriff office marked PRISONER PICKUP, then on to Blackwell Prison. Here is the route, the encounters you may hit on the way, and how the Miles Left bar tracks your progress.
Quick answer
After fixing the bus, you drive the route to its first stop: the sheriff office marked PRISONER PICKUP, where your prisoners come aboard through the bus door. From there you keep driving to the run's final destination, BLACKWELL PRISON. Your progress meter is the Prison bar at the top of the screen — its 'Miles Left' counter counts down as you cover the route, so a falling number means you're getting closer.
- First stop: the sheriff office marked PRISONER PICKUP — officer briefing, a CRIMINAL report to review, prisoners board.
- Final destination: BLACKWELL PRISON — the warden instructs you to escort the prisoners to Cell Block 1.
- Progress check: the top HUD's Prison bar and its Miles Left counter decrease as you drive.
A transport run in Prison Bus [ANOMALY] is one continuous job: fix up the prison bus, drive it to pick up prisoners, survive the anomalies along the way, and get to the prison alive. This guide covers the driving half of that job — where the route goes once the bus is roadworthy, and how to read the screen so you always know how far along you are. If the bus still needs work before you can pull out, start with the bus repair guide and come back to the road from there.
Mechanic flow
- 1
Fix up the bus
The run starts before the wheels turn: make the prison bus drivable first.
- 2
Drive to the prisoner pickup
Early in the route, the bus stops at a sheriff office marked PRISONER PICKUP and the prisoners board.
- 3
Survive the road
The middle stretch brings encounters and anomalies between the pickup stop and the prison.
- 4
Reach Blackwell Prison
The bus arrives at BLACKWELL PRISON, the final destination, where the warden takes over with instructions.
Where you drive: pickup first, Blackwell Prison last
The route has two anchored stops, and the pickup comes first. Early in the route the bus pulls in at a sheriff office marked PRISONER PICKUP. Three things happen there: an officer explains the rules, a printer produces a CRIMINAL report for you to review, and the prisoner boards through the bus door — Brenda Whitlock in the run this guide's examples come from. The pickup walkthrough covers that stop step by step.
Everything after that office is the long middle of the run. Keep the bus moving, deal with what the road sends at you, and you will eventually reach the final destination: BLACKWELL PRISON. Arrival is confirmed unmistakably — the warden instructs you to escort the prisoners to Cell Block 1. Once you have had that instruction, the driving leg of the run is over and you are into the prison itself; how to win picks up from that point.
One caveat worth keeping in mind: the stop order described here — pickup early, encounters in the middle stretch, prison last — is the shape of one complete recorded run of roughly 70 minutes. It shows what a full route looks like, not a guaranteed identical stop list, and the encounters you meet can vary between runs.
How to know you're progressing
The game tracks this for you. While driving, the top of the screen shows a Prison progress bar with a "Miles Left" counter — your remaining distance toward the prison — and it decreases as the route is traveled. In one recorded run it read 865 Miles Left at the start of driving, and later readings included 761, 460, and 143.
Those exact values are examples from a single run, not fixed route distances, so your own numbers may differ. The behavior is the reliable part: the counter measures how far you still are from the prison, so as long as it keeps falling, the bus is covering the route. For the prisoner pickup, recognition is simpler — the stop comes early in the route, and the sheriff office marked PRISONER PICKUP is the landmark you are watching for.
| Milestone | What you see | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Driving begins | Prison bar at the top of the screen showing "Miles Left" | The route tracker is active and counting distance to the prison |
| On the road | The Miles Left counter keeps dropping | You are covering ground toward the prison |
| Sheriff office marked PRISONER PICKUP | Officer briefing, a printed CRIMINAL report, prisoners board through the door | The early pickup stop is done |
| Road prompts | A GAS STATION AHEAD refuel prompt; soldiers board and inspect the bus at an ARMY CHECKPOINT | You are in the middle stretch between pickup and prison |
| BLACKWELL PRISON | The warden tells you to escort prisoners to Cell Block 1 | The route is complete |
What the road sends at you
The middle stretch is not empty. In the recorded run, a GAS STATION AHEAD prompt let the player refuel at a pump or with a handheld nozzle, at $5.00 per gallon. Further along, an ARMY CHECKPOINT stopped the bus so soldiers could board and inspect it before waving it through.
Treat those as examples of encounter types rather than a schedule — the events between the pickup stop and the prison can vary between runs. What does hold for every run is the objective itself: surviving the anomalies along the way is part of getting to the prison alive, so the road between stops is where a run's survival pressure sits. The anomalies guide and survival guide cover that side in depth.

Route length, and modes that change it
In standard play, the base game's route length applies — this is a long drive between the pickup stop and Blackwell Prison. Two modes change the conditions around that drive:
- Quick mode, purchasable with Robux or tokens, makes the map half as long and much quicker to finish — the supported option if the full route is more than you want in one sitting. The quick mode guide has the details.
- Hardcore mode, available once you have already won the game, brings harder enemies and no free revives; winning it unlocks a free exclusive Armoured Bus skin. See the hardcore mode guide and the buses and skins overview.
That is the whole navigation problem in one line: repaired bus, PRISONER PICKUP, then Blackwell Prison — with the Miles Left counter confirming that every mile traveled is a mile closer. If you are new to the game overall, the beginner guide starts from the very beginning.
