What the Armoured Bus skin is
Update 1 added the Armoured Bus skin alongside two new game modes, and the game is explicit about who gets it: it is a free exclusive bus skin for Hardcore winners. Both halves of that description matter. Free means you do not buy it — the game awards it as a reward. Exclusive means a Hardcore win is the only route to it the game offers. A look at the rest of the bus lineup and its skins is on the buses and skins page.

Step 1: Win the game once to unlock Hardcore
Hardcore does not open to every player. The mode is only available to players who have won the game, so your first target is an ordinary win. The game's own description spells out what a run looks like: fix up the prison bus, drive it to pick up prisoners, survive anomalies, and get to the prison alive. In practice that means getting the bus fixed up before the journey, collecting prisoners along the route, and surviving the anomalies standing between you and arriving at the prison alive. If you are still working toward that first win, the beginner guide, the how to win guide and the anomalies page cover the pieces of that loop.
Step 2: Win Hardcore mode
Once you have a win on record, Hardcore becomes available — and it is a real step up. Enemies are harder, and there are no free revives to fall back on. The goal of the run itself does not change: you are still fixing up the bus, picking up prisoners, surviving anomalies and trying to reach the prison alive. What changes is the cost of mistakes, because the free revive option is off the table.
The reward is tied directly to that win. The game states that winning unlocks a free exclusive bus skin, and Update 1 names it: the new Armoured Bus skin for Hardcore winners. Winning Hardcore is, by itself, what triggers the unlock. The Hardcore mode page goes deeper on the mode itself.
Quick mode is not the skin route
The other mode Update 1 added is Quick mode, and it is easy to mistake for a shortcut to the skin — but the two are separate. Quick mode is available for Robux or tokens, makes the map half as long, and gets a run finished much quicker. It is not Hardcore, and the Armoured Bus skin is exclusive to Hardcore winners, so shorter, paid runs do not earn the reward. Quick mode is a convenience purchase for finishing runs faster; the skin still comes only from winning Hardcore. The Quick mode page has the mode's own details.
